YOU ARE NOT ALONE

On 9th August 2021, there were no overhead planes, no nationwide pledge taking ceremony, and no fireworks - a first for many in Singapore. But what exactly is National Day without the revelry? This year at NSFTV, instead of our traditional picture-in-picture homage to Singapore, our team took a more introspective take in our yearly NDP special.

For your 56th
is a reflection of the Singaporean Dream, and its accompanying collection of fears and insecurities. As we transition into adulthood, reality hits different, and well… dreaming sometimes loses it’s magic.

It is in these gaps of uncertainty where we find ourselves assessing the parameters of our goals and aspirations. And in uncertainty, there is growth. So take a breath, it’s okay to take things one step at a time, day by day.

What is your Singaporean Dream?

So I think that’s the thing about Singaporean dreams too, like people just shrug it off when they think it is too out of reach. But I think even if people shrug it off, you shouldn’t take it too seriously. But if you think that there’s a chance for you, the slightest chance possible, I think you just go ahead with it.
My Singaporean dream is that I hope that people can see that there’s so much to be found in Singapore. And that you can do a lot by yourself. But you can do even more as a community.

As a lot of people grow older, they feel this pressure to be together, you know? But I feel like romance in Singapore isn’t dead. There’s a lot of passion involved with the couples here and they have very different stories. I would think this counters out all the conformities that people would put themselves into.
