214 (CN): Time is so long, but Summer so short

July 29, 2022 in Photography

ABOUT THE ART

A growing project that saw its start in 2016, ‘下河 summertime’ is a photo series by anonymous photographer 214. A collection of sun-kissed skin (too much even for the likes of Instagram’s policies), warbly self portraits and self-insertions into animal photography, 214 captures the fleeting tenderness of a languid summertime hidden from most prying eyes.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

214 is a photographer who was born in Guizhou Province in 1990. They resigned from a countryside government in 2017. In July of the same year, they won the 40th Japan Photographic New Cosmos Excellence Award. In 2019,  214 held a solo exhibition "To Be An Evening breeze" at the jiazazhi Library. Again in January 2021,  they held a solo exhibition "Daily Invaders" in Random (Hangzhou). In June of 2021, 214 and Zhang Mo held a double-billed exhibition for "Summer Tales" in youlian studio (Shanghai). In August, the exhibition was also held in Chengdu’s Wuzao Space.
